We sent a complaint to the Booking.com website and they tried to contact the owner of the resort. Shortly after, we received an email response:
--------------------------------------------------
Thank you for the quick response to the problem. We have rules to adhere
to and it was unfortunate that the guest wanted to ignore the rules. True,
in the booking requst an extra mattress was requsted but the hotel never
respond to the request simply because the room is designed to receive 4
person only. The guest has 5 adults + 1 child ( 13 yrs old ? ). I am sorry
that the guest said I was rude but how could I not be when I was shouted
at with some "rough words"
-----------------------------------------------
This was the booking confirmation we received prior to our arrival to the resort:
We assumed that when they said "all children under 11 stay free of charge when using existing bedding, it meant that one child can stay in the room for 4. The funny thing is, the owner thought that the child we referred to was 13 years old, when she was obviously there in the reception, not even looked like a 13 year old girl. Furthermore, it is really irresponsible for the hotel owner as he did not respond to the request as if everyone can understand the policy stated/seen the room. Customers can be mistaken for facts, but he should have at least say, "dear guest, the room can only accomodate 4 persons" and we can follow suit.
And lastly, "i was rude" when "i was shouted at"? That is a really irresponsible remark. We only shouted harsh words after he responded to us with the loud annoying voice (in short, he shouted at us first). How can anyone not become furious over that?
Please sir, change your attitude.

Cherating Bayview: A no-no (part 2)
Cherating Bayview: A no-no
I am currently in Cherating with my family, after months of staying at home. We are visiting this place for 3 days. This time around, everyone in the family is available. So, we were thinking of having a relaxing time, without swaying away to workloads that are abundant at home. Everyone was excited with the break. It was not until we got to our first resort.
We booked Cherating Bayview through the internet, as we thought that the price was good, and we were able to get extra beds since that we are six in the family. Booked one room for 4, get 1 extra bed for an adult and one kid was free of charge to stay - we thought that was our deal. Sent through a comment on that after we booked.
Suddenly, we encountered a problem when we got to the resort. The resort itself was rather creepy and uninviting, as we could not see anyone around and the gate was closed. We thought that it would probably because it was still Friday, and people might only come on weekends to celebrate Christmas. We went to the reception and saw an old man sitting around watching us. When we pressed the bell, the man shouted at the receptionist to come out from the office.
We informed the receptionist regarding our request but the receptionist hesitated and made a sly face. She told us that we were not allowed to get an extra bed, but instead we had to get another room. We justified our position by saying that we were allowed to get an extra bed because it was stated on the internet. But the receptionist ignored our request.
Surprisingly, the old man made a loud voice and ask us if we booked through Booking.com. We told him that we did that and we were supposed to be allowed to get an extra bed. We did not get the chance to finish our words and he suddenly said that we were not allowed to get an extra bed and had to get another room.
My mom said, "But we are not staying here for one day."
The old man, with an annoying loud voice replied, "No, you still need to get another room."
My mom then requested, "Fine,if let say we get another room for today, how can you be sure that we can get another room tomorrow?"
The old man went silent for a while. Then he continued about telling us to get another room if we wanted to stay.
My big brother who made the booking said that we could just leave and go to a different place.
And the old man sarcastically said, "Yeah, just go. I don't mind." We did not expect him to say anything. Everyone was furious and we went off to a different hotel.
But as soon as we arrived in Cherating Bay (a different hotel), it took us only a minute to get a room without booking. And it had a friendly atmosphere, and the staff was helpful.
The thing is, we don't really mind about not getting the extra beds. But please treat your customer accordingly. Don't shout at them. Don't make faces. I am disappointed with the old man who seems to be the owner of the resort. Tell us politely that we can get another room. I thought he must be thinking that since we are locals, we are cheapskate. Such mentality can only hinder you from getting more visitors. Unless this attitude changes, then it is a good sign.
But currently, Cherating Bayview? A seriously no-no!
